Martin Milner - Msc C Eng - Managing Director

Martin investigates, interrogates, and teaches in the world of timber structures for compliance with strength, durability and fire requirements.

Expert Witness and design of Timber Structures Testing, Site inspections and Product Development, Historic Buildings, Repairs, Presentations, Structural Timber Fire Engineering and risk assessment.

Guy Lewis - Msc C Eng - Technical Director

Guy continues to spend his time thinking about radiant heat and delivering fire risk assessments, making sure that timber frame developments can be safely constructed across the UK.

Guy has written an article in Housebuilder to guide developers on how to arrange their timber frame sites best to minimise fire risk during construction.

Engineering, site inspections, CLT, Glulam, Light Steel Frame, feasibility, multi storey frames, technical guidance and papers.


James Walker MSc C Eng - Innovation Director

James heads up the innovation team at Milner Associates and is always trying to find better ways to build using timber and has a specific interest in low energy construction.

Annie Fennell MEng GMICE – Engineer

Annie joined the team in 2023 after completing her MEng in civil Engineering. While working with us in Edinburgh she is gaining experience of timber frame design and targeting chartership with the Institute of Civil Engineers.


Bartosz Belch – Engineer

Bartosz spent 2 years working in timber research in academia, but in 2022 decided to move into industry and work for timber expert company - Milner Associates. This started our Edinburgh office, where Bartosz is designing timber structures and is developing his skills with fire risk assessments of timber frame.


Laurence Ashley (He/Him) MEng CEng MICE – Associate

Laurence enjoys designing innovative low carbon DFMA building systems using biogenic materials, as well as delving into the details of fire safety!


Dr Keerthi Ranasinghe, Ph.D., B.Sc. (Hons. 1st)

An engineer with expertise on timber structures coming from research, design, and code development and into to construction

Specialist team support: by invitation and approval process we engage with sub contract experts where appropriate and agreed  to support Milner Associates .

Civil and  foundation engineers and specialist test houses are used as required.
